Meditation University Eclipse Retreat · Aug 2, 2027 Help choose

A Meditation University Retreat · August 2, 2027

The Eclipse of the Century.
Where should we meet it?

On August 2, 2027, the longest total solar eclipse until 2114 sweeps from southern Spain across Morocco to Egypt. We’re gathering to meditate in the path of totality — and we want you to help choose where.

Scroll — watch day become night

Light thins. The air cools. Colors drain toward dusk — at midday.

Totality. Day becomes night. A ring of fire hangs where the sun should be. Stars appear. Birds fall silent. This is what we gather for.

Then the first diamond of light returns — and nothing feels quite the same.

We’re choosing the location with you

Three places. One unforgettable morning. Your voice in the plan.

We’ve narrowed the 2027 retreat to three areas along the path of totality. Each has real tradeoffs — length of totality, heat, cost, and how far ahead we can book. Rather than decide behind closed doors, we’re asking the people who might actually come.

  • Everything here is exploratory — no itinerary is booked and no payment is taken.
  • Prices are early planning estimates, per person, and will move with accommodation and group size.
  • Your rankings and budgets tell us which retreat is worth committing to first.

The three candidates

Same eclipse. Three very different mornings.

Longest totality

Luxor & the Nile Egypt

up to ~6 min 23 sec of totality — the longest anywhere on Earth. The path maximum falls just southeast of Luxor.

Why it’s magic

  • Over six minutes of darkness — the single longest totality of the eclipse
  • Meditating among the temples, tombs, and the Nile of the ancient world
  • A once-in-several-lifetimes “Eclipse of the Century” setting

The tradeoffs

  • Serious August heat — daytime highs can exceed 100°F / 38°C
  • The most premium option, likely built around a Nile-cruise concept
  • Requires the most careful logistics, comfort, and pacing

Likely stays Premium Nile-cruise concept & hotels, with comfort and cooling prioritized.

Est. planning range$10,000–$15,000 per person

Near the centerline

Tangier & the North Morocco

~4 min 51 sec of totality — the eclipse centerline passes just south of Tangier, one of the longest durations in the country.

Why it’s magic

  • Long totality near the centerline — far more than most of Spain
  • Rich culture, mild coastal light, and flexible logistics
  • Widest price range: adventurous shared/camp-style up to premium riads

The tradeoffs

  • Some 2027 travel inventory is still opening up — we’d book as it appears
  • Comfort varies most across the accommodation tiers
  • Shorter totality than Egypt (still well over four minutes)

Likely stays From camp-style and shared rooms to comfortable private riads.

Est. planning range$3,000–$10,000 per person

Europe’s edge

Tarifa & the Strait Southern Spain

~4 min 39 sec at Tarifa — Spain only clips the southern edge of the path, and Tarifa on the Iberian tip is the country’s best spot. Exact site still to be confirmed.

Why it’s magic

  • Europe’s southernmost tip — strong totality where Spain meets the path
  • Beautiful Andalusian coast, looking across the Strait of Gibraltar
  • Flexible tiers, from adventurous/shared to comfortable coastal stays

The tradeoffs

  • Most of Spain sits near the path’s edge — the exact site really matters
  • 2027 booking inventory for these dates may not be fully available yet
  • Slightly shorter totality than Tangier, just across the water

Likely stays From camp-style/shared to comfortable coastal rooms.

Est. planning range$4,000–$12,000 per person

At a glance

Most people will choose by budget — so here’s the honest math.

Why we meditate during totality

Like meditation, totality can’t be explained — only experienced.

Total solar eclipses are among the most awe-inspiring events a human can witness. When day turns to night and stars appear at noon, the effect is profoundly spiritual. We gather extraordinary teachers and weave many modalities — while honoring complete autonomy. Join every session, a few, or simply hold space in stillness. All paths are respected.
